The multimedia library

The resource library at Nausicaa is specialised in the marine world. Its collection covers a wide range of fields related to the sea, such as maritime activities and technology, marine biology, the ocean sciences, the environment, sustainable development, culture and hobbies, the Law, economics and politics of the Sea. You will find works of reference on the ocean and librarians on hand to answer your questions.

A team of librarians at your service

Nausicaa’s multimedia resource library has a collection of 4,500 books and CD-ROMs available to loan, and subscriptions to 120 magazines and journals specialised in the sea.

Our document classification system shows the diversity of themes and fields related to the marine world that are covered. For example, in the sub-theme “Exploitation of marine resources”, you can find books about oceanological research, deep-sea diving, the exploitation of biological resources, sea regulations, maritime policy and the institutions and administrations responsible for the sea, the economics of biological resources, sea farming and aquaculture, fishing, and so on…

You are also welcome to consult a unique collection of films by the World Underwater Film Festival Foundation.

Nausicaa’s librarians can also provide you with lists of book and document references available in the Resource Library on any theme you are interested in, and will help you with your research.

Book Loans

Books are loaned FREE OF CHARGE to everyone.

NB - you will need the following documents to obtain your borrower’s card:

A cheque made out to Nausicaa for the sum of 100 Euros, as a security deposit (not cashed)
Proof of identity (e.g. identity card in France). 1 proof of address (proof of rent payment or utilities bill) .
