In 27 years, Nausicaá has welcomed over 16 million visitors and become a major player in the tourism industry

Since its opening in 1991, Nausicaá has welcomed over 16 million visitors, nearly 30 % of them from overseas. This makes Nausicaa the most visited tourist attraction north of Paris after the Parc Astérix. The tourism and economic benefits that Nausicaa brings for the city of Boulogne-sur-Mer and the Côte d’Opale are undeniable and help the entire region.

An award-winning sea centre – An international renown

Since its opening in 1991 Nausicaá has received numerous awards.

  • In 1999, Nausicaá received the Centre of Excellence label from UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission for its awareness-raising work. This was a world first in efforts to raise awareness of the marine environment.
 
  • Nausicaá and UNESCO signed a partnership agreement in 2014. The objective is to engage in joint and concerted cooperation whilst forming projects that contribute to scientific research, international cooperation, data sharing and public awareness.
 
  • TripAdvisor – In 2017, Nausicaá received the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award 2017. Nausicaá achieved a score of 4.5 out of 5 from a total of 2 517 reviews.
 
  • « Tourisme Quality » mark – Aware of how important it is to offer a high-quality experience to our visitors, Nausicaá adopted a quality process and earned the Tourism Quality mark in April 2014, renewed in 2016 for three years.
