The world of the Abysses
Journey on the High Seas – Area 10 : The World of the Abysses
The abyss is the name given to the ocean beds over 2,500 metres deep where total obscurity reigns. The abyss counts for over 80% of the ocean’s surface and over 65% of the total surface of the earth, but only a minute part of the seabed has been explored.
We know less about the abyss than we know about the surface of the Moon. Yet it abounds with treasures…the unknown species and precious minerals in the deep sea beds may be the solution to our future, if we are able to exploit them in a profitable, sustainable and responsible manner.
Embark on a unique journey to discover what few of us have ever seen. Cold and dark – the abyss abounds with new discoveries!
